Kentucky court overturns gambling domain seizure on appeal
The Commonwealth of Kentucky sued 141 online gambling websites for illegally allowing residents of the state to gamble online and asked the state to seize all 141 gambling domains, unless they stopped allowing KY residents to gamble. A Kentucky court order authorizing the seizure of 141 overseas domains has been overturned by the the Kentucky Court of Appeals. Full Story
Poker Lobby Wants New Deal From GOP

The Republicans’ last two national party platforms opposed Internet gambling. Online poker players want a new deal at this year’s convention next month. The Poker Players Alliance, which spent $1.2 million lobbying during the first half of 2008, aims to legalize virtual versions of the game now played under the table. Dozens of people listing poker as their profession have contributed $353,802 to federal candidates this election cycle. And the group will sponsor events at both conventions. more
Lawmakers disagree over defining online gambling

Lawmakers failed Wednesday to agree on setting a clear definition of illegal Internet gambling to go along with a ban on online betting passed in 2006. The Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department have been unable to finalize rules to implement the ban because Congress didn't clearly define online gambling when it passed legislation less than two years ago. more
