Aug 30, 2010

Tim Tebow made his debut in front of the home crowd and tossed a touchdown as the Denver Broncos downed the Pittsburgh Steelers, 34-17, in preseason action.

Tebow, who missed last Saturday's preseason game in Denver against Detroit with a rib injury, went 5-for-10 with 72 yards and an interception for the Broncos, who improved to 1-2 in preseason play. LenDale White had 12 carries for 34 yards and a score while Lance Ball had 10 carries for 75 yards

Ben Roethlisberger was 4-for-6 for 67 yards while Charlie Batch threw a touchdown for the Steelers, who fell to 2-1 in the preseason. Jonathan Dwyer had 13 carries for 89 yards and a score in the loss.

White's two-yard touchdown run staked Denver to an early 7-0 lead, but Jeff Reed countered with a 33-yard field goal on Pittsburgh's ensuing drive.

Matt Prater booted a 39-yard field goal in the second quarter and Andre' Goodman's 77-yard touchdown off an interception by Dennis Dixon gave the Broncos a 17-3 lead at halftime.

Prater's 29-yard field goal accounted for the only points of the third quarter to give Denver a 20-3 lead.

Dwyer ran the ball into the end zone around the right end from five yards out early in the fourth to make it a 20-10 contest.

Tebow tossed a three-yard touchdown to Eric Decker in the fourth for a 27-10 lead.

Batch threw a seven-yard touchdown to Antonio Brown to make it a 27-17 contest.

Syd'Quan Thompson's 48-yard interception return for a touchdown accounted for the final score.
