Philipp Grubauer has been taken off the NHL’s COVID protocol list. Grubauer was expected to be sidelined for two weeks after he was added as a COVID protocol-related absence on April 14. It doesn’t sound like that has changed much, as Grubauer will have to clear cardiac testing and do off-ice workouts before he practices with the team. Coach Jared Bednar said the team will be patient before placing him back in the lineup. Colorado still has forwards Joonas Donskoi and Mikko Rantanen unavailable due to COVID protocol.

Jordan Binnington allowed three goals in Thursday’s 4-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. Binnington fell victim to poor puck management and defensive miscues by the team in front of him. Despite what the stat sheet showed, the 27-year-old’s 25 saves did not come easy as the Avalanche swarmed his net all night. If it weren’t for Binnington this game could’ve been a lot worse for the Blues. The Blues goaltender owns a 12-14-5 record with a 2.72 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.

Islanders vs. Rangers Prediction

The favorite is 41-17 in the last 58 meetings between these two teams, while the Avalanche have won five straight over the Blues in this series. The Aves are also 49-22 in their last 71 games overall, are 36-17 in their last 53 road games and have won four straight games as a road favorite. The Blues, meanwhile, are just 7-21 in their last 28 home games, are 3-10 in their last 13 games overall and have dropped seven of their last eight games after scoring two goals or less in their previous contest.
