NBA Rookie of the Year odds have shifted a fair bit with the amended 72-game schedule now past the halfway mark.
While the big draft names have generally been impressive and cemented themselves at the top of the NBA ROY odds board, several less-touted prospects have also emerged as early contributors. Let’s check out the updated odds to win NBA Rookie of the Year leaderboard.
Favorite to win NBA Rookie of the Year
No. 3-overall pick LaMelo Ball is a major favorite to win Rookie of the Year at -1,000 odds.
The Hornets guard is running away as the odds-on favorite as one of the best players on a Charlotte team that’s fighting for playoff positioning in the back half of the crowded Eastern Conference standings. Ball is filling up the stat sheet on a nightly basis and has quickly become must-watch television.
A new No. 2 has emerged, as Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves comes in next at +400 odds. The No. 1 overall pick has come alive since entering Minnesota’s starting lineup, impacting the game as a shooter, cutter, and pick-and-roll initiator, while posting a number of highlight-reel dunks. Edwards is getting lots of run for the lottery-bound Timberwolves and has been the team’s leading scorer throughout the month of March.
Dropping down to No. 3 at +800 odds is Sacramento Kings guard Tyrese Haliburton. Praised as an advanced-stats stud coming out of Iowa State, Haliburton has brought a rare dose of order to Sacramento’s rotation with an innate feel for the game at such a young age (just 20 years old).
Golden State big James Wiseman, the No. 2 overall pick, and New York Knicks point guard Immanuel Quickley round out the Top 5, both at +2,500 odds.

Understanding NBA Rookie of the Year odds
Most sportsbooks will display odds in the American format as listed above. As last season progressed, with Ja Morant having been a huge favorite, his odds had a minus (-) sign ahead of the number:
This means that a bettor needs to wager $500 to win $100. Other candidates with worse odds would have a plus (+) sign ahead of the number. Early in the season, before any clear favorite is established, betting options will be listed as such:
Here, a bettor stands to profit $650 for every $100 wagered.
