Braves vs. Nationals, 9/10/20 MLB Predictions: Erlin vs. Voth

National League East rivals square off in D.C. on Thursday night when the Nationals host the Braves at 6:05 p.m. ET. After Atlanta hung a whopping 29 runs on the board Wednesday night in a win over the Marlins, will this matchup turn high-scoring as well?

Game Snapshot

955 Atlanta Braves (-150) at 956 Washington Nationals (+130); o/u 10

6:05 p.m. ET, Thursday, September 10, 2020

Robbie Erlin (0-0, 6.84 ERA) vs. Austin Voth (0-5, 8.26)

Atlanta Braves DFS Spin

Adam Duvall delivered his second three-homer game in eight days Wednesday, finishing with nine RBI as the Braves crushed the Marlins 29-9. Duvall did most of the work himself last week against the Red Sox, hitting three homers in a 7-5 win. Tonight, he had a lot more help, as four other Braves homered in the game. The team totaled 29 runs, all of them coming in a six-inning span from the second through the seventh. Duvall became just the fifth player ever with three homers, nine RBI and five runs scored in a game, joining Jim Tabor (1939), Walker Cooper (1949), Gil Hodges (1950) and Anthony Rendon (2017). He has nine homers in his last 10 games, raising his OPS from .701 to .950.

Washington Nationals DFS Spin

Juan Soto singled, drove in a run and was intentionally walked twice as the Nationals defeated the Rays 5-3 on Tuesday. Soto hadn’t played in five days because of a sore elbow, but that didn’t stop the Rays from being very careful with him tonight. The intentional walks worked out for the Rays on both occasions, as Kurt Suzuki made inning-ending outs behind Soto in both the fourth and sixth innings. Though it didn’t stop the Nationals from winning tonight, manager Dave Martinez should still scrap his new idea of having Soto hit fourth ahead of Suzuki.

Braves vs. Nationals Betting Prediction

Regardless of how many runs the Braves scored last night, I had the over circled for this matchup tonight in D.C. In eight appearances (four starts), Erlin nearly has a 7.0 ERA while Voth is winless in his seven starts and owns an 8.26 ERA to go along with a 1.80 WHIP. While Erlin does have some strikeout ability, Voth has just 23 punchouts in 28 1/3 innings of work. We all saw the Braves’ handy work last night when they scored 29 runs and while the Nationals aren’t as dangerous offensively as their NL East counterparts, they’re no slouches either. The over is 5-0-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams and I believe it cashes here as well.
