Betting trend to know

Against the spread (ATS) pick

The Bucks are 16-5 against the spread when coming off an upset loss of 10 points or more under head coach Mike Budenholzer. Milwaukee has a great opportunity to get back in the win column – and keep that trend going – as it will be facing a depleted Lakers group tonight.

With both LeBron James and Anthony Davis out, this Bucks team has no excuse not to win this game rather easily. A victory is needed too, as the team has lost three in a row.

One thing to keep an eye on here is that Andre Drummond is making his debut for the Lakers tonight. Drummond is one of the game’s premier rebounders, but he does have a lot of holes in his game. For starters, Drummond isn’t exactly great at anything offensively. He scores most of his points around the basket, but he’s not very efficient in doing so. That means he isn’t likely to make a huge impact on a Lakers offense that has been struggling without its two stars.

Drummond also happens to be miserable defensively, despite the fact that he occasionally racks up steals and blocks. With the way he fails to protect the basket, Jrue Holiday and Giannis Antetokounmpo should both feast in the paint in this one.

Both of them can get themselves to the bucket at will, and they won’t be faced with much resistance in this game. That’s a sizable change for the Lakers who, when healthy, are arguably the best defensive team in basketball.

PREDICTION: Bucks -8.5 (-110)

Covers NBA betting analysis

Over/Under pick

Los Angeles plays at a slow pace and generally prefers a low-scoring game, but Milwaukee is going to look to speed things up here.

The Over has cashed in 10 of the Bucks’ last 12 games—and most of them have done so with ease. This team shoots the ball extremely well, and both Holiday and Giannis will be doing what they can to get downhill and put pressure on the Lakers at the rim.

Also, Los Angeles doesn’t really have anybody that can guard either Giannis or Khris Middleton, let alone the both of them.

PREDICTION: Over 221 (-110)

Player prop pick

Giannis is coming off of a 32-point performance against the Clippers and he now gets another opportunity to play at the Staples Center.

He generally enjoys playing on big stages, and as mentioned above, his team needs to get back in the win column. Look for Giannis to be in attack mode early on, and don’t be surprised if he puts up a big number.

The Lakers like to slow the pace and pride themselves on their ability to get stops, but this team might struggle to integrate Drummond early on.

PREDICTION: Giannis Antetokounmpo Over 27.5 Points (-110)
