Bucs vs. Saints, 9/13/20 NFL Week 1 Betting Predictions

NFC South rivals square off in New Orleans on Sunday when Tom Brady clashes with Drew Brees at 4:25 p.m. ET. With the Saints laying 3.5 points and the total sitting at 47.5, what’s the best play for bettors?

NFL Week 1 Regular-Season

Tampa Bay Bucs DFS Spin

Bucs TE Rob Gronkowski said Tom Brady’s arm might be stronger than it was when Gronkowski entered the NFL in 2010. Gronk’s comment echoes what TE Cameron Brate said this week about the strength of 43-year-old Brady’s arm. Maybe it’s the TB12 system. We’re looking into it. Brady is being drafted in the eighth round, as the ninth quarterback off the board, surrounded by the best cast of pass catchers of his career.

New Orleans Saints DFS Spin

Saints signed RB Alvin Kamara to a five-year, $75 million extension. It comes with $34.3 million in guarantees. The $75 million is new money, with Kamara’s total contract valued at $71.1 million. New Orleans needed to move cap space to sign Kamara, who was in the final year of his rookie deal. Kamara’s $15.4 APY is now behind only Christian McCaffrey. It’s a huge commitment from GM Mickey Loomis given the Saints’ cap issues. Kamara missed two games while playing through a torn MCL last year and has knee injuries going back to college. With Drew Brees likely in his final season, the Saints are locking up Kamara as the centerpiece of their offense.

Bucs vs. Saints Betting Prediction

It may take a quarter or two for the offenses to settle in, but I expect the over to cash on Sunday. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams overall and hit in five of the previous seven clashes at the Superdome. While Mike Evans (hamstring) is unlikely to play, Brady still has more weapons now than he did a year ago in New England. The Saints, meanwhile, are still loaded offensively and the Bucs’ biggest question mark defensively remains their secondary. Points should eventually start to roll in today in the second half of this game.

NFL WEEK 1 BETTING PREDICTION: BUCS/SAINTS OVER 47.5
