Carolina Panthers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, 11/7/18 Predictions & Odds

The Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers square off Thursday night at 8:20 p.m. ET in what should be a fantastic matchup. With the total sitting in the low-50s, will the over cash for bettors?

Game Snapshot

107 Carolina Panthers at 108 Pittsburgh Steelers

Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA

Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Steelers are 4-point favorites to beat the Panthers. The total, meanwhile, sits at 51.5 points. As of this writing, 60% of the public betting tickets are on the Panthers to cover the point spread.

Carolina Panthers

Cam Newton completed 19-of-25 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns in the Panthers’ 42-28, Week 9 win over the Bucs, adding 10 carries for 34 additional yards. A dominant real-life performance did not quite translate to fantasy as Newton lost yardage to Curtis Samuel and D.J. Moore trick/motion plays. The Panthers were also content to let Christian McCaffrey do work at the goal line. Newton did have a rushing score, but it got called back by an illegal motion penalty. Cooking with gas for a while now, Newton gets the Steelers’ improving defense on Thursday Night Football for Week 10.

Pittsburgh Steelers

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Steelers have had no Week 10 contact with unsigned franchise player Le’Veon Bell, and he is not expected to return for Thursday’s game against the Panthers. Bell has eight days to report if he wants to play in 2018. As has been the case since the spring, his intentions remain unclear. James Conner keeps feasting in Bell’s absence.

NFL Betting Trends

Carolina

The over is 5-2 in the Panthers’ last seven games overall and 4-1 in their last five games played in the month of November.

Pittsburgh

The over is 5-0 in the Steelers’ last five games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous contest.

Prediction

The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams, is 7-3 in the Steelers’ last 10 games overall and 35-16-3 in the Panthers’ last 54 games versus an opponent with a winning record. Norv Turner has Cam Newton playing some of the best football of his career (save for his MVP season, of course) and the Steelers’ offense is firing on all cylinders right now. Pittsburgh’s defense has played better of late but lack of speed is still a problem and while Carolina’s defense is also solid, the unit is still allowing 22.5 points per game this year. I don’t see either offense being stopped on Thursday night.

NFL Week 10 Prediction: Panthers/Steelers over 51.5
