Against the Spread (ATS) Pick

Since the start of the season, the Sixers are 3-1 both SU and ATS in meetings with teams that allow opponents to make at least 46 percent of their shots. That’s not exactly good news for the Celtics, as this Philadelphia team will likely be getting both Joel Embiid and https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/players/10681/seth-curry/2020-2021Seth Curry back for this one. The Sixers missed Embiid in his short absence, as they dropped a game against the Grizzlies that they likely would have won with their anchor on the floor. Curry’s time off didn’t help them either. On the year, Curry is shooting a ridiculous 59.5 percent from the outside, and he’s doing so on 5.3 attempts per game. He will give Philadelphia some real spacing against Boston, and overall, the return of these two should energize this team.

The Celtics being without Jayson Tatum isn’t some small note either. Tatum is one of the best two-way players in basketball, and Boston just isn’t the same team without him. Need some proof of that? How about the Celtics losing to the Knicks by 30 at home on Sunday?
Boston needs all the plus-level defenders it can get against this Philadelphia offense, as the Sixers now have scoring threats all over the floor. Sure, guys like Curry and Danny Green might not kill you off the dribble, but it requires real focus chasing down shooters that move off the ball like they do. The Sixers also have one of the best defenses in the NBA, so not having Tatum to create offense only makes Philly’s job easier.

Make sure you keep an eye on the injury updates for this game. If anything unexpected comes up, you might want to stay away.

PREDICTION: 76ers -4.5 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

This total is really on the low side, so it’s definitely not all that inspiring to take the Under, but it seems like the right side. Without Tatum, the Celtics and Knicks combined to score only 180 points on Sunday. Boston doesn’t have the same juice offensively without Tatum. Meanwhile, the Sixers are coming off a game against the Grizzlies in which only 210 total points were scored. Also, the Under was a hot bet when Philadelphia was healthy at the beginning of the year, and it’s likely the team starts to lock in defensively now that it’s nearing full strength.

PREDICTION: Under 220.5 (-110)

Player Prop Pick

Over the last three games, Ben Simmons is averaging 11.0 assists. Now, the Sixers have their whole arsenal of weapons back, so Simmons should be able to record a decent number of dimes in this one. The Celtics generally guard Simmons pretty well, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that they don’t fear him as a shooter. But this Sixers offense is a lot better this year and the shooters tend to get themselves a few good looks a game. Simmons will make the right reads and get his teammates plenty of good shots.

PREDICTION: Ben Simmons Over 7.5 assists (-120)

Celtics vs 76ers Betting Card

  • 76ers -4.5 (-110)
  • Under 220.5 (-110)
  • Ben Simmons Over 7.5 assists (-120)
