Public Betting Trends

According to the latest oddsmakers, Wisconsin is the heavy favorite in this game, as the Badgers are getting odds of -35 points against Central Michigan. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 51.5 points. The public betting currently has 66 percent going on Wisconsin at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NCAAF Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Central Michigan tops Albany

The Central Michigan football team opened its 2019 season under new coach Jim McElwain with a 38-21 victory at home over Albany. The Chippewas were a 14-point favorite for the contest and they went over the 45-point total.

CMU won just one game last season, so a win of any kind was a positive. The Chippewas outgained Albany 529-244 in the victory, as they had 285 rushing yards while holding Albany just 45 yards on the ground. CMU did commit three turnovers, which kept the game closer than it needed to be. Jonathan Ward led the team with 158 rushing yards and two touchdowns while quarterback Quinten Dormady threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns. Tyrone Scott added five receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns.

Wisconsin shuts out South Florida

Wisconsin may have looked as good as any team in college football last week, as the Badgers picked up a 49-0 victory at South Florida last Friday. Wisconsin was just a 10-point favorite going into the game and it went under the 58-point total in the victory.

The Badgers absolutely dominated the Bulls, as they held USF to just 157 total yards and 26 rushing yards. Offensively, Wisconsin had 435 total yards, including 234 on the ground. Jonathan Taylor had a great start to his Heisman campaign, as he rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries while also catching two passes for 48 yards and two more scores. New starting QB Jack Coan was efficient under center, as he threw for 201 yards and two scores on 19 of 26 passing.

College Football Betting Trends

Central Michigan

The Chippewas are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games following a win and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against Big Ten opponents.

Wisconsin

The Badgers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six against MAC opponents, but just 2-7 ATS in their last nine home games.

Prediction:

Central Michigan has been a respectable defensive team for years, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Chippewa get some stops on Wisconsin, but the Badgers are healthy and look ready to steamroll these early non-conference opponents. USF had no chance and I think CMU is going to be overwhelmed in Wisconsin’s home opener. That’s a tough crowd to face. The Chippewas are in just their second game in a new offensive system and facing a really solid defense, so I would expect their offense to struggle a great deal. It’s a big spread, but I like Wisconsin to cover.

College Football Week 2 Prediction: Wisconsin -35
