The Sunday headliner to Matchday 26 will feature a match with major Top-4 implications, as Manchester United travels south to London to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Red Devils enter the weekend second in the table, level with Leicester City but with a superior goal difference. Chelsea, meanwhile, are making a charge for a Champions League place after sacking Frank Lampard, with the Blues now up to fifth on 43 points.

Chelsea vs Manchester United betting preview

Here are our best Premier League predictions and soccer betting picks for Chelsea vs. Manchester United on Sunday, February 28, with kickoff set for 11:30 a.m. ET.

Side pick

New Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is unbeaten through eight games on the touchline, with the club racing from ninth to fifth in the table since his arrival. Crucially, his arrival has provided second chances to a number of squad players, as well as helping to lift recent purchases who had been struggling to adapt to the Premier League.

The new manager bounce proved very real mid-week, when Chelsea traveled to Romania and got a fantastic 1-0 result against Atletico Madrid, who excel in cup competitions, in the Champions League Round of 16.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are in the thick of a grueling Europa League campaign that forces clubs to play on Thursday night and then on the weekend. Though the Red Devils were the home side in their second leg against Real Sociedad on Thursday night and rotated the squad a fair bit after winning the first leg 4-0, their task is still a thankless one.

Chelsea are more well-rested and as the home side, are in an excellent position to pick up another three points here.

PICK: Chelsea (+118)

Over/Under pick

In the eight matches Chelsea have played since Tuchel took over, they have kept six clean sheets while playing much more connected and organized across the backline, due in large part to the reemergence of experienced defenders like Antonio Rudiger.

In attack, the Blues are looking much more fluid as well, with an embarrassment of riches across the front finally being properly utilized. Chelsea had the look of one of the Premier League’s most talented sides going forward ahead of the season and under Tuchel, they are playing up to that level — there are always goals in this side.

For Manchester United, the story has remained the same over the past 13 months, and that is a story of complete reliance on Bruno Fernandes. The Red Devils’ midfielder is at the heart of absolutely everything they do moving forward and only Harry Kane (1.12) has contributed more goals and assists per 90 minutes than the Portgeuuse maestro (1.07). Unfortunately for Manchester United, Chelsea have one of the few players in the world capable of marking Fernades out of a game in N’Golo Kante. Kante and a revived Chelsea midfield will not allow Fernades any consistent time on the ball and as a result, the Man U attack will suffer.

PICK: Under 2.5 (-125)

Player prop pick

Perhaps no player has been more positively impacted by Tuchel’s arrival than Timo Werner. The former RB Leipzig attacker has gotten off to a slow start in England after he was sought after by a number of big clubs in the summer, before ultimately choosing Chelsea. Lampard failed to properly integrate him into the lineup and Werner looked uncomfortable and worse, uncertain.

Since Tuchel’s arrival, Werner is playing much closer to the level Bundesliga observers came to expect. Though his output is still modest, with just a goal and an assist under Tuchel, he is getting into fantastic positions and playing much more direct with the ball at his feet. Werner is far too talented to continue producing as he has been. His pace on and off the ball will wreak havoc on a largely slow-footed Manchester United backline.

PICK: Timo Werner – Anytime goalscorer (+235)
