Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin

Anthony Rizzo went 1-for-3 and smoked a two-run dinger in a loss to the Braves on Thursday. The Cubs trailed 9-0 in the ninth inning when Rizzo broke up the shutout bid by blasting a bomb off reliever Chad Sobotka with Kris Bryant aboard. Rizzo is off to a pretty good start to the season as he owns a .286/.464/.571 slash line with two homers and five RBI.

Milwaukee Brewers Fantasy Spin

Lorenzo Cain hit a pinch-hit double in the Brewers’ win over the Reds on Wednesday. Cain was held out of the starting lineup for the purpose of rest, but he came off the bench to lead off the top of the eighth inning and smacked a two-bagger off Reds left-hander Amir Garrett. The 32-year-old center fielder is slashing .320/.414/.400 through seven games this season for the Brewers, who are off to a 6-1 start.

MLB Betting Trends

Chicago

The Cubs are winless over their last four games after allowing five runs or more in their previous contest.

Milwaukee

The Brewers have won 38 out of their last 52 games dating back to last season.

Prediction:

There’s no reason to back the Cubs right now. Their pitching has struggled badly, including last night in Atlanta when they surrendered nine runs to the Braves in a 9-4 loss. Their bullpen is a major problem and given their current budgetary limitations, help doesn’t appear to be on the way either. The Cubs are 3-8 in their last 11 games versus the Brewers and 1-4 in their last five games at Miller Park. They’re also 1-5 in Jose Quintana’s last six road starts and have now dropped five in a row. The Brewers, meanwhile, are red-hot and have won five of Brandon Woodruff’s last six starts. We usually won’t get Milwaukee this cheap so might as well take advantage.

The Pick: Milwaukee Brewers -122
