Chiefs vs. 49ers Popular Super Bowl 54 Prop Bets & Odds

The Chiefs and the 49ers will meet in Miami Gardens next Sunday for Super Bowl 54 and with that, millions of bettors will flock to sportsbooks to wager on prop bets. What are some of the most popular Super Bowl prop bets and what are the current odds for each?

What are some of the most popular Super Bowl prop bets for next weekend’s matchup between the Chiefs and the 49ers? Well, much like the game, it all starts with the coin toss. One of the most popular Super Bowl prop bets every year is what side the coin used for the game will come up: Heads or Tails. At most books, the odds for both heads and tails range from -102 to -105. If you’re wondering, tails has come up in five of the previous six Super Bowls, including last year’s matchup between the Rams and Patriots.

Another popular Super Bowl prop bet is which team will score first in the game. This could be a touchdown, field goal or safety and just like the coin toss, similar odds are given for each team. This year, the 49ers and Chiefs are both -110 on the moneyline to be the first team to score next Sunday.

Building off of which team will score first, another popular Super Bowl prop is which player will score the first touchdown in the game. 49ers running back Raheem Mostert is the favorite this year at 9/2, followed by Chiefs running back Damien Williams at 6/1. Tyreek Hill is 7/1, followed by Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Deebo Samuel at 8/1.

Of course, the mother of all Super Bowl prop bets is MVP, which is often won by quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs is the current favorite at +120, followed by 49ers signal-caller Jimmy Garoppolo at 3/1. After rushing for over 200 yards and four touchdowns in the NFC championship game versus the Packers, Mostert is 8/1 to win Super Bowl 54 MVP, followed by George Kittle at 15/1.

Speaking of the quarterbacks, Mahomes has an over/under of 2.5 for number of total touchdown passes in next Sunday’s game, although the juice is shaded to the under at -220 (the over has juice of +190). After only attempting 8 passes in the Niners’ win over the Packers in the NFC title game, Garoppolo’s touchdown total is lower than Mahomes at 1.5, although the juice on that prop is shaded to the over at -150 (the under carries juice of +130).

While these are some of the most popular Super Bowl 54 prop bets, there are a slew of props available at most sports books leading up to the game. Finding value in betting the props is another story, although if you’ve paid attention to each team and their tendencies throughout the year, props can be both fun and lucrative.
