Chiefs vs. Raiders Week 2 Prediction

Chiefs vs. Raiders, 9/15/19 NFL Week 2 Betting Predictions

A pair of rivals from the AFC West will meet in Oakland this Sunday when the Raiders host the Chiefs at 1:00 p.m. ET. Looking to improve to 2-0 on the young season, will the Chiefs post a straight up win and a victory for bettors as well?

Game Snapshot

281 Kansas City Chiefs (-7) at 282 Oakland Raiders (+7); O/U 53.5

RingCentral Coliseum, Oakland, CA

Public Betting Trends

According to our NFL Football Public Betting Chart page, the Chiefs are receiving 59% of the betting tickets from online sportsbooks.

Kansas City Chiefs Fantasy Spin

Chiefs LT Eric Fisher (groin) is questionable for the team’s Week 2 matchup against the Raiders. Fisher injured his groin during practice Friday. The severity of the injury is unclear at this time. Losing your LT is never ideal, but the Chiefs’ overwhelming firepower at seemingly every position should be able to handle the Raiders’ less-than-stellar defense, even at less than 100%. Fisher was PFF’s No. 26 overall tackle among 62 qualified players last season.

Oakland Raiders Fantasy Spin

Raiders S Johnathan Abram (shoulder, IR) is expected to be sidelined 5-6 months. Abram is out for the year, but this puts him on track for a normal offseason. The good news is Abram’s surgery revealed his labrum wasn’t torn, so he’ll only be rehabbing his rotator cuff. Lamarcus Joyner will see more snaps with Abram sidelined.

NFL Betting Trends

Kansas City

The Chiefs are 7-2-1 against the spread in their last 10 road games and are a perfect 8-0 against the number in their last eight games played in the month of September.

Oakland

The Raiders have covered the spread in four straight home games and are 9-4 against the number in their last 13 games played in the month of September.

Prediction

The Chiefs lost Tyreek Hill for several weeks due to a broken clavicle and if their Week 1 performance versus the Jaguars is any indication, their defense still has major issues. That said, there seems to be an overreaction to the Hill injury because while his loss hurts, the Chiefs still posses one of the best offenses in the NFL. The duo of Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes should still help Kansas City move the ball at will against an overmatched Oakland defense. If this line is inflated, it’s not by much. The Raiders circled the wagons on Monday night following a tumultuous offseason (thanks to Antonio Brown), but I can’t envision Oakland playing that crisp most weeks. The Chiefs are 11-5 against the spread in their last 16 road games versus the Raiders, while the favorite is 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall.

NFL Week 2 Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs -7
