Public Betting Trends

Oddsmakers from online sportsbook YouWager currently list the Brewers as a -131 favorite. As of this writing, 64% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Brewers to beat the Reds on the moneyline. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on this game.

Reds’ Castillo coming off his best start of 2018

Luis Castillo allowed three runs on five hits through six innings and did not earn a decision against the Phillies on Wednesday. He struck out four batters without issuing a free pass and allowed five base hits, including two home runs. The quality start was his best effort of the new season thus far — he was rocked in his first two outings. The 25-year-old’s results haven’t matched his great stuff yet this year. His velocity has been down a bit, perhaps due to the cold weather, but he is a good bet to improve his form as the season unfolds. He had a 3.12 ERA with 98 strikeouts in 89 1/3 innings over 15 starts last year as a rookie.

Quotable: “Any spark we can get we’re taking right now,” said reliever Jared Hughes, who pitched for Milwaukee last year. “It’s time to change some momentum in our favor.”

Brewers’ Suter coming off encouraging start vs. Cardinals

Brent Suter was charged with one run across 5 1/3 innings of work in Tuesday’s extra-innings loss to the Cardinals. The soft-tossing Suter had the Cardinals off-balance all night, as he gave up just four hits and three of them were cheap ones. The only run charged to Suter crossed home plate when Oliver Drake issued a bases-loaded walk to Yairo Munoz.

Quotable: “A split on a pretty challenging road trip,” said Craig Counsell, who was ejected in the fifth inning. “But obviously when you lose a bunch of one-run games, you feel like there’s games kind of hanging out there, still.”

MLB Betting Trends

Cincinnati

The Reds have dropped four of their last five games in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee

The Brewers are 7-2 in Suter’s last nine starts.

Prediction:

The Reds are a freaking Double A team and that’s being generous. I’m not backing them, especially on the road. They’re 2-5 in Castillo’s last seven starts, are 0-6 in his last six outings after scoring two runs or less in their previous game, and are 0-5 in their last five divisional games. On the other side, the Brewers are 7-2 in Suter’s last nine starts and have won five of his last six home outings. I’ll lay the odds.

The Pick: Milwaukee Brewers -131
