Colorado Rockies Fantasy Spin

Daniel Murphy paced the Rockies with three hits Thursday in a come-from-behind win over Washington. Murphy had a busy day against his former team. He doubled and scored in the fourth, singled and scored in the sixth and drilled a leadoff homer to begin the eighth before capping his afternoon with an RBI groundout in the ninth. That fielder’s choice (which he barely beat out at first base), pulled the Rockies ahead for good. Murphy entered Thursday’s action in the midst of a 5-for-31 rut, a stretch that drove his average all the way down from .297 to .281. Thursday’s outburst in the nation’s capital could be a sign he’s ready to break out.

Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin

Nick Senzel was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Brewers due to illness. Senzel was pulled after he singled to lead off the game and clearly looked dizzy while he was at first base. It’s worth noting that in his past, he has dealt with vertigo issues. We should have a further update on his prognosis from the Reds in the coming days, but Cincinnati isn’t going to take any risks with Senzel’s long-term health.

MLB Betting Trends

Colorado

The Rockies are 8-21 in their last 29 games overall and are just 2-8 in their last 10 road games despite beating the Nationals in D.C. on Thursday.

Cincinnati

The Reds have dropped five of six at home and five of seven against opponents from the National League West.

Prediction:

The Reds are 16-7 in Luis Castillo’s last 23 starts at home and are 11-4 in his last 15 outings when he pitches the first game of a series. The Rockies, meanwhile, are just 1-4 in their last five road game when facing a right-handed starter and have dropped four straight following a win. Perhaps the win yesterday will spark this team, but the Rockies have struggled mightily over the past three weeks and generally speaking, they have not hit well on the road.

The Pick: Cincinnati Reds -1.5 (+140)
