Public Betting Trends

According to the latest oddsmakers, Georgia Southern is favored on the road, as the Eagles are getting odds of -11.5 points against the Jaguars. The over/under total is listed at 47 points. The public betting currently has 82 percent going on Georgia Southern as the road favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NCAAF Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Eagles not flying high

Georgia Southern isn’t off to a great start to the year, as the Eagles are just 1-3 through their first four games and 0-1 in the Sun Belt after a loss to Lafayette last weekend. The Eagles are also 1-3 against the spread and 3-1 with the over.

The Georgia Southern offense is pretty weak, averaging just 21.3 points and 251.5 yards per game. That includes just 49.8 passing yards per game. Defensively, the Eagles are giving up 36.3 points and 413.3 yards per contest. Logan Wright is leading the ground game with 248 yards and two touchdowns while quarterback Justin Tomlin has run for 193 yards and two scores while throwing for 162 yards. Matt LaRoche has also rushed for 190 yards.

Jaguars on a skid

South Alabama has dropped three straight games following a 30-17 loss to Louisiana-Monroe this past weekend. The Jaguars are 1-4 overall, 0-1 in the Sun Belt, 2-3 against the spread and 4-1 with the under.

The Jaguars are putting up just 16.8 points and 333.4 yards per game on offense this year, while the defense is giving up 31.2 points and 402.6 yards per contest. Running back Tra Minter has been leading the team with 432 rushing yards and two touchdowns while quarterback Cephus Johnson has thrown for 514 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 192 yards and four scores. Kawaan Baker is the team’s leading receiver with 12 catches for 227 yards and two touchdowns.

College Football Betting Trends

Georgia Southern

The Eagles have hit the over in 10 of their last 11 games following a failed cover and in seven of their last eight games in October.

South Alabama

The Jaguars have hit the over in their last six games following a cover, but have hit the under in five of their last seven games on fieldturf.

Prediction:

These two have hit the over in three of their last four meetings, and Georgia Southern has scored at least 48 points in each of those three games alone. It’s a little surprising to see the total so low. While both teams have clearly struggled on offense for the season, the Eagles were able to put up 32 points on the road against Minnesota. I think they will continue to have success against the Jaguars and put up a strong offense number. I am not sure South Alabama will be able to do the same, but being at home should help put a few numbers up to help the over hit.

College Football Week 6 Prediction: Georgia Southern/South Alabama Over 47
