Astros stumble to loss

Houston fell by a score of 6-4 Saturday afternoon at Toronto to drop to 88-49 overall and 37-32 on the road. Yuli Gurriel helped pace the Astros offensively as he finished 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Alex Bregman was 0-for-1 with three walks and two RBIs. George Springer ended the game 1-for-3 with two walks and a run scored. Framber Valdez took the loss as he surrendered six earned runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and three walks over 5 2/3 innings. Verlander gets the start this afternoon as he enters with a 16-5 record, 2.69 ERA and 0.80 WHIP plus 243 strikeouts over 184 innings of work.

Biggio powers Jays past Astros

Toronto claimed a 6-4 home win over Houston Saturday afternoon to improve to 55-82 overall and 27-41 at home. Cavan Biggio helped lead the Blue Jays offense as he finished 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, two runs scored and three RBIs. Teoscar Hernandez was 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Bo Bichette went 2-for-5 with two runs. Clay Buchholz picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts and five walks over 5 2/3 innings pitched. Wilmer Font will serve as the opener today for Toronto as he comes in with a 3-3 record, 4.35 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 75 strikeouts over 68 1/3 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

Houston

The Astros are 16-5 in their last 21 Sunday games. Houston is 28-8 in the last 36 Verlander road starts.

Toronto

The Blue Jays are 0-7 in their last seven Sunday games. Toronto is 6-2 in the last eight Font starts.

Prediction:

Verlander has been dominant as of late and basically all season. Check the numbers. While Font might give the Blue Jays a couple good innings, I expect the Astros offense to eventually overwhelm Toronto’s pitchers in what could be a lopsided affair.
