Nikita Kucherov leads the NHL playoffs in scoring, but it might be difficult to add much to that tally in a series that continues to showcase defense and goaltending.

Home-ice advantage hasn’t been an advantage at all through the first three games of the Central Division final.

The Carolina Hurricanes look to continue the trend of road teams winning every game so far as they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 4 of their best-of-seven series Saturday afternoon.

While the Hurricanes carved the Lightning’s series lead in half Thursday night,  the news wasn’t all good for Carolina, who could be down three key forwards for their matinee rematch.

These are our favorite NHL free picks and predictions for Hurricanes vs. Lightning on June 5.

Moneyline pick

The Lightning can take solace in the fact that they carried the play for much of Game 3, finishing with a 37-27 shot advantage while going 2 for 3 with the man advantage. And it’s the latter result that could ultimately decide the series: Tampa Bay owns the No. 2 power-play unit in the postseason at 39.3 percent, while the Hurricanes rank eighth at 21.4 percent.

We also like the Lightning’s chances of getting off to a better start than the Hurricanes in Game 4, at least based on prior playoff trends. Tampa Bay has struck first in seven of its first nine postseason games, going 6-1 SU in those contests (and 0-2 when they trail first, as they did in Game 3). Carolina, on the other hand, has scored first just twice in its opening nine playoff games.

Carolina was more of a score-first team in the regular season, but the absence of Nino Niederreiter and potential losses of Vincent Trocheck and Warren Foegele could prove to be a major hit to the visitors’ offensive punch. We like Tampa to jump out in front first Saturday afternoon – and to stay there.

PREDICTION: Tampa Bay (-160)

Over/Under pick

The first three games have showcased both teams’ impressive defenses and goaltending – and Carolina’s sublime defensive performance in Game 3 came with a different guy between the pipes. Head coach Rod Brind’Amour opted to replace rookie Alex Nedeljkovic (who had started each of Carolina’s first eight playoff games) with Petr Mrazek, who made 35 saves in the win.

Regardless of who tends goal for either side in Game 4, this series should continue to be low-scoring as both squads continue to focus on minimizing mistakes and getting sticks into passing lanes. Both have also shown impressive discipline, having combined for just nine total power-play chances over the previous two games.

As long as this one sits at 5.5, bettors would be wise to consider the Under. One more low-scoring game Saturday, and we could be looking at some 5s the rest of the way.

PREDICTION: Under 5.5 (-135)
