Against the spread (ATS) pick

The Scarlet Knights come into this contest fresh off an overtime win on the road against Minnesota which allowed them to bounce back from an embarrassing 21-point loss to Nebraska, the last-place team in the conference.

The Hoosiers enter this tournament looking very wobbly after going 0-5 SU and ATS over their last five games. One of those contests was a 74-63 loss to Rutgers which was their second defeat against the Scarlet Knights this year after falling by four points in Bloomington on January 24. That makes Rutgers 5-1 SU and ATS in the last six meetings between these Big Ten foes.

There isn’t much separating these teams on offense, with Rutgers 165th in the nation in offensive efficiency (averaging 99.7 points per 100 possessions) and Indiana just one spot behind them with 99.6 points per 100 possessions.

Rutgers does, however, have the edge on the defensive end of the floor. The Scarlet Knights hold conference opponents to 68.6 points per game on 42.6 percent shooting, while the Hoosiers allow 72.9 ppg on 44.7 percent shooting in Big Ten play.

With the Hoosiers in a slump and the Scarlet Knights holding a defensive advantage (and owning the recent head-to-head series), we’re backing Rutgers.

PREDICTION: Rutgers -2 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

The Hoosiers are led by All-Big Ten forward Trayce Jackson-Davis who puts up 19.1 points while grabbing 9.0 rebounds per game. Unfortunately, they don’t have much offensive talent around him which makes their offense extremely stagnant when he’s either not on the floor or struggling to drop shots.

Despite Jackson-Davis’ heroics, Indiana is averaging just 59 ppg on 36.4 percent shooting over its last four contests.

Although the Scarlet Knights put up 73 points against the Hoosiers two weeks ago, that’s the only game in their last six contests where they managed to score more than 64 points in regulation.

That said, they’ve been stout on the defensive end of the floor and lead the conference in blocked shots thanks in large part to center Myles Johnson, who averages 8.6 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game.

Both of these schools also play at a slow pace with Rutgers 211th in the country in adjusted tempo, according to KenPom, and Indiana ranking 285th. With the Scarlet Knights going 11-5 to the Under in their last 16 games, back the Under again.

PREDICTION: Under 130 (-110)
