Lakers vs. Rockets, 1/10/21 NBA Fantasy News & Betting Predictions

The Houston Rockets are off to a sluggish start to the new season, winning in three of their first seven games. The Lakers, meanwhile, are 7-3 and are a small road favorite on Sunday night when these two teams meet in Houston at 7:00 p.m. ET. Will LeBron and Co. cover that number?

Anthony Davis (left adductor strain) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Rockets. Davis was held out of Friday’s game against the Bulls, the second of a back-to-back, with Frank Vogel saying that the Lakers decided to “play it safe.” Expect to see him on the court, filling his usual starring role alongside LeBron James.

James Harden scored 15 points for the second straight game on Friday, making 6-of-13 shots with three 3-pointers, 13 assists, five rebounds and one block in 31 minutes. John Wall added 14 points and four dimes tonight, and Harden’s minutes were a team-high in a blowout 132-90 win vs. the Magic. “Teams are doing things to make it hard on [Harden offensively],” Rockets coach Stephen Silas said before the game. “They’re trapping him, crowding him. He’s making the right plays.” Harden has three straight games with double-digit assists, and it’s only a matter of time before he erupts in the scoring column. His trade demand has yet to become a full-blown disaster for Houston, too, so fantasy managers should count their blessings.

Lakers vs. Rockets Betting Prediction

The Lakers have covered the spread in four of their last five trips to Houston and are 4-0 against the number in their last four games versus the Rockets overall. The Rockets, meanwhile, are just 3-11 against the spread in their last 14 games playing on one day of rest, are 2-6 against the number in their last eight games as an underdog and are just 3-8 at the betting window in their last 11 games overall.
