Lions vs. Packers, 10/14/19 Monday Night Football Predictions

The 4-1 Packers host the 2-1-1 Lions on Monday Night Football tonight at 8:15 p.m. ET. Listed as a 3.5-point home favorite, are the Pack a solid play for bettors or will Matthew Stafford and the Lions at least cover, if not pull off the outright upset at Lambeau tonight?

Game Snapshot

275 Detroit Lions (+3.5) at 276 Green Bay Packers (-3.5); O/U 45.5

8:15 p.m. ET, Monday, October 14, 2019

Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI

Public Betting Trends

According to our NFL Football Public Betting Chart page, the Packers are receiving 59% of the betting tickets from online sportsbooks.

Detroit Lions Fantasy Spin

Lions officially tagged S Quandre Diggs and CB Darius Slay as “questionable” for Week 6 against the Packers. The defensive backs had the bye week to get right and were able to get in limited practices all week. They both will likely play in the division matchup against Aaron Rodgers. The good news is Green Bay will be without Davante Adams.

Green Bay Packers Fantasy Spin

Aaron Rodgers (knee) was limited in practice again Friday. Rodgers isn’t thought to be at any risk of missing the Packers’ Monday night matchup against the Lions. The problem is No. 1 WR Davante Adams (toe) reportedly isn’t expected to play. Treat Rodgers as more of a low-end QB1/high-end QB2 while the Packers continue to trend towards functioning as a run-first offense.

NFL Betting Trends

Detroit

The Lions are just 16-33-2 against the spread in their last 51 games after allowing more than 30 points in their previous contest.

Green Bay

The Packers are 2-5 against the number in their last seven games after allowing more than 250 yards in their previous contest.

Prediction

Davante Adams won’t play tonight but I’m not going to hang the Packers’ chances on winning and covering on their talented receiver. Rodgers has been a NFC North Division killer over his career, especially at home. Against divisional rivals, Rodgers is 38-23-0 against the spread at Lambeau Field, compared to 54-44-4 ATS outside of the NFC North. He’s just killed divisional opponents and while Matt Patricia has flustered top quarterbacks before (look no further than Patrick Mahomes a few weeks ago, despite the fact the Chiefs still scored 30-plus points), but I’m sticking with the Pack.

NFL Week 6 Prediction: Green Bay Packers -3 (buy hook down from 3.5)
