The Brooklyn Nets are the hottest team this side of Utah, winners of eight straight (covering in each) as they host the Dallas Mavericks for NBA betting action Saturday night.

Both teams are coming off a night’s rest, having posted very different results Thursday night, with Brooklyn flattening Orlando and Dallas losing in demoralizing fashion to Philadelphia.

Can the Mavs turn things around? Or will win No. 9 be an easy one for BK? Find out with Mavericks vs. Nets picks and predictions for February 27.

Against the spread (ATS) pick

Brooklyn again comes into this one without Kevin Durant, which hasn’t exactly been a problem, as they’ve won and covered in six straight without the former MVP.

Tonight, they face a Mavs team that’s just 3-7 ATS in its last 10, and seeking redemption after the Sixers’ defense swallowed them whole Thursday night.

This game will be a little bit easier on Luka Doncic, who is obviously the key fulcrum to everything Dallas does on offense (more on that in a moment). Kristaps Porzingis is also expected to return after practicing Friday, and will likely be hungry after hearing his name floated on the trade block all week.

Both these teams have been hot at first glance, with Dallas at 7-2 in its past nine, and Brooklyn owning the NBA’s longest active winning streak (eight). But while Dallas has been beating up on a fairly fluffy portion of its schedule, the Nets can count both the Suns and Clippers among their Durant-less victims.

Dallas’ very clear M.O. lately has been beating bad teams and losing to good ones. In their past 16 games, they’re 6-0 against sub-.500 squads, but a troublesome 1-9 against foes over .500.

Brooklyn looks like a very good team right now, and its cohesion is only increasing. Couple that with Dallas’ recent ATS woes, and this seems like nothin’ but Nets.

PREDICTION: Brooklyn -4 (-110)

Over/Under pick

So, the books have caught up to the Nets a bit. After trading for James Harden and hitting the Over in 528 consecutive games (Editor’s Note: number possibly exaggerated), Brooklyn has split its last 10 O/U.

But now that the market’s corrected, the Mavs present a lot of Over potential. Don’t be fooled by Brooklyn holding the Lakers and Magic – two squads that can’t score on anyone these days – under 100 points. This is still a terrible defensive team.

Dallas, likewise, is coming off its own outlier game, in which Luka Doncic was absolutely suffocated by Ben Simmons and the Sixers, to the tune of just 97 Mavericks points. Playing the Nets after that will be like applying a Band-Aid after writing the MCAT.

Brooklyn is clearly going to do its part to push the Over, and Dallas’ offense has certainly been reciprocating, dropping 124.5 ppg across a 7-2 SU stretch prior to the Sixers loss. With Porzingis expected to return and boost the Mavs’ scoring punch, it’s all the more reason to hit the Over again.

PREDICTION: Over 238.5 (-110)

Player prop pick

As mentioned above, Doncic is coming off a frustrating performance, in which a DPOY candidate put him in a straitjacket for most of the night. It was one of Doncic’s worst games of the season, and you can (literally) bet he’ll be motivated for a statement game.

Brooklyn’s one of, if not the single most, best bounce-back opponents for Luka, providing both a high-profile target and minimal resistance on D.

His 47.5 total for pts+rebs+asts is lofty, but very attainable for a player who averages 45.9 on the season, and has topped this total in six of his past ten games.

The inflation seems very fair in this matchup – if Luka goes down, it’ll be swinging.

PREDICTION: Luka Doncic Over 47.5 pts+rebs+asts (-111)
