The Reds are off to a horrendous start to the 2019 season, losing eight of their last nine games overall. That said, will they pick up a victory Tuesday evening when they host the Marlins at 6:40 p.m. ET? Better yet, will they cover tonight on the runline?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book, the Reds are -195 moneyline favorites. As of this writing, 65% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Reds to beat the Marlins on the moneyline.

Miami Marlins Fantasy Spin

Curtis Granderson clobbered a pinch-hit, game-tying solo homer, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Marlins to a win against the Braves on Sunday. Granderson came off the bench to take Braves’ closer Arodys Vizcaino deep with one out in the top of the ninth inning. It was his second round-tripper in eight games this season. The 38-year-old veteran outfielder would have some tangible value in deeper formats as a rigthy-masher if he’s traded to a contending team this summer. He’s at least worth keeping on the fantasy radar for now.

Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin

Major League Baseball suspended Yasiel Puig two games for his involvement in Sunday’s benches-clearing brawl involving the Reds and Pirates. Puig was in the middle of the fracas, which started after Chris Archer threw a ball behind Derek Dietrich after Dietrich admired a home run earlier in the game. Archer was suspended five games and will appeal, while Puig will not appeal and begin serving the suspension Tuesday. Reds manager David Bell also got a one-game suspension and will serve it Tuesday.

MLB Betting Trends

The Marlins are 5-1 in their last six games versus the Reds.

The Reds have won 10 of Luis Castillo’s last 14 home starts.

I know the Reds are off to a bad start but I see them exercising some demons this evening. Castillo struggled in the first half of last season but he’s a high-strikeout pitcher that has posted a 35% strikeout rate in his first two starts of the season. He does struggle versus left-handing hitting but the best lefties that Miami has in its lineup are Granderson and Neil Walker. No offense to those veterans, but I’ll take my chances with Castillo being able to navigate this Marlins lineup tonight. On the other side Jose Urena has typically done well against right-handed hitters but he’s was knocked around in his first two starts. The Reds offense is off to a sluggish start but they have five lefties in their lineup, including Joey Votto, Scott Schebler and Jesse Winker. With Cincinnati get +105 odds on the runline, I like the Reds to beat up on the Marlins tonight.

The Pick: Cincinnati Reds -1.5 (+105)
