Public Betting Trends

Oddsmakers from online sportsbook YouWager currently list the Yankees as a -350 favorite. As of this writing, 75% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Yankees to beat the Marlins on the money line. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on this game.

Marlins’ Smith set to face former club on Monday night

Caleb Smith yielded three runs in five innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Mets. Smith struck out seven and walked just one, which was a nice change after he walked nine over 8 1/3 innings in his first two starts. He’s a former Yankees prospect.

Quotable:This was a little rougher one,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. “They’re not really beating us down (on Sunday), but more like a couple (runs) here, another one, another one, another one. They had us in harm’s way pretty much all day long.”

Yankees’ Stanton will face former Marlins club for first time

Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton will face his former club on Monday night for the first time since he was traded by the Marlins. Before going on a recent road trip, Stanton was hitting just .167 with 20 strikeouts but he lifted his average to .220 on a recent road trip.

Quotable:  “I mean, I don’t think there’s any crazy bad blood beside what (the media) stirred up,” Stanton said. “I mean, we were very honest with each other in our meetings and that’s the business side of it, but there’s no bad blood on this side.”

MLB Betting Trends

Miami

The Marlins have lost four of their last five games at Yankee Stadium.

New York

The Yankees are 6-0 in their last six interleague games and have taken four straight versus the National League East.

Prediction:

I’m laying the wood on the run line in this one. The Yankees are 13-3 in Luis Severino’s last 16 home starts, are 17-5 in his last 22 outings overall, and are 5-0 in his last five starts against the National League. On the other side, the Marlins have dropped five of their last six games, are 1-5 in their last six contests versus a right-handed startr, and have lost 16 of their last 21 games on the road.

The Pick: New York Yankees -1.5 (-155)
