Milwaukee Brewers Fantasy Spin

Eric Thames cranked a solo home run and scored both of the Brewers’ runs in Wednesday’s loss to the Cardinals. Thames ripped one over the right field wall in the first inning off of Adam Wainwright to get he Brew Crew on the board. He also got a rally started in the ninth inning with a one-out single, although the Brewers ultimately fell short. Thames isn’t exactly setting the world on fire with a .273 average and .327 on-base percentage, but he’s hit five home runs to Jesus Aguilar’s zero. Aguilar, by the way, has been benched in three straight games and it would appear that Thames is the preferred option at first base versus righties at this point.

New York Mets Fantasy Spin

Robinson Cano went 3-for-3 with a walk as the Mets got shut out by the Phillies on Wednesday. His three singles represented half his team’s total knocks in the lopsided contest. The veteran second baseman is heating up at the plate after a slow start to the season and has his line up to .272/.323/.435 with three homers and 10 RBI in 23 games. Cano had a scare on Sunday when he was hit on the hand with a pitch. He ended up missing just one game and has five hits in two games since returning, so it’s safe to say he and his fantasy owners dodged a bullet.

MLB Betting Trends

Milwaukee

The Brewers are 11-5 in their last 16 games versus the Mets but have not fared well at Citi Field, losing nine of their last 12 games at that park.

New York

The Mets are 6-16 in Jacob deGrom’s last 22 home starts.

Prediction:

The Brewers don’t have the same pop offensively away from their home digs in Milwaukee. Miller Park offers the Brew Crew an opportunity to flex their muscles but get the club away from Milwaukee and their offense has struggled. I’m banking on deGrom silencing the Brewers’ bats again tonight, as the under is 13-5-2 in the last 20 meetings between these two teams at Citi Field. The under is also 21-9-2 in deGrom’s last 32 starts and is 4-0 in Anderson’s last four outings.

The Pick: Brewers/Mets UNDER 7.5
