Brewers held to two hits

Milwaukee lost by a count of 10-0 at St. Louis Friday night to drop to 78-69 overall and 35-38 on the road. Trent Grisham led the Brewers offense as he finished 1-for-2 with a pair of walks. Orlando Arcia was 1-for-2 plus a walk. Yasmani Grandal ended the game 0-for-2 with a walk. Adrian Houser suffered the loss as he surrendered four earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks over three innings. Jordan Lyles gets the start tonight for Milwaukee as he enters with a 10-8 record, 4.38 ERA and 1.35 WHIP plus 127 strikeouts over 125 1/3 innings.

Goldschmidt drives in seven

St. Louis cruised to a 10-0 victory Friday night at home over Milwaukee to improve to 83-64 overall and 47-26 at home. Paul Goldschmidt led the Cardinals offense as he finished 2-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBIs. Kolton Wong went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Dexter Fowler went 0-for-1 with three walks and two runs. Adam Wainwright picked up the win as he gave up two hits with seven strikeouts and three walks over six innings. Jack Flaherty will start tonight for St. Louis as he comes in with a 10-7 record, 2.99 ERA and 1.03 WHIP plus 196 strikeouts across 168 1/3 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

Milwaukee

The Brewers are 6-1 in their last six road games. Milwaukee is 5-0 in the last five Lyles starts.

St. Louis

The Cardinals are 4-0 in their last four Saturday games. St. Louis is 5-1 in the last six Flaherty starts.

Prediction:

While Lyles has pitched better this season than his numbers suggest due to a few duds, I can’t side with him on the road matching up with Flaherty. The absence of Christian Yelich was noticeable in the shutout yesterday and while I expect Lyles to pitch much better than Houser, he won’t be allowed too many mistakes as Flaherty has been untouchable much of the second half. Consider the runline bet in this spot.
