Twins grab opener

Minnesota grabbed the series opener on Tuesday, picking up a 7-5 victory at Milwaukee. It was just the second win in the Twins last seven games. The Twins are 72-47 on the season, 36-21 on the road and 60-52 with the over. Kyle Gibson gets the start today. He is 11-5 on the season with a 4.24 ERA.

The Twins put up three runs in the top of the eighth inning to break away from the Brewers and get the win. Marwin Gonzalez had a three-run home run in the eighth, his 14th of the season. Mitch Garver hit his 22nd home run in the win as well while Eddie Rosario had two hits and scored twice. Martin Perez got the start for Minnesota and threw six innings, allowing no earned runs. Tyler Duffey got a win in relief while Sergio Romo earned his second save of the season.

Brewers drop second straight

Milwaukee had a five-game win streak come to an end on Sunday in a loss to the Rangers and then it suffered the loss to the Twins last night. Milwaukee is now 62-58 on the season, 35-26 at home and 62-54 with the under. The Brewers have Gio Gonzalez on the mound today. He is 2-1 on the season with a 3.20 ERA.

The Brewers used six pitchers on Tuesday. Chase Anderson got the start and gave up three runs over five innings. Drew Pomeranz took the loss by giving up two of the three runs in the eighth. He is now 2-10 on the season. At the plate, Yasmani Grandal homered and drove in three runs to lead Milwaukee while Keston Hiura had two hits and scored a run.

MLB Betting Trends

Minnesota

The Twins are 11-5 in their last 16 Game 2’s of a series and 8-3 in their last 11 road games against a team with a winning record.

Milwaukee

The Brewers have won four straight Wednesday games and 8-1 in their last nine interleague home games against a right-handed starter.

Prediction:

Gibson has a good record, but hasn’t always had his best stuff on the mound. Gonzalez has been much better in recent outings, giving up just two earned runs over his last 9.1 innings. He has a 2.91 ERA at home this year. Milwaukee has been playing well as of late and has been competitive in the losses. I think having Gonzalez on the mound will push them to a victory today. Gibson just hasn’t been able to keep the runs off the board.

MLB Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers -110
