Predators prevail in Game 3

Nashville grabbed a 2-1 series lead Monday night with a 3-2 victory in Game 3 of the Western Conference quarterfinals at Dallas. Following a scoreless first period, Rocco Grimaldi gave the Predators a 1-0 advantage 3:29 into the second period off assists from P.K. Subban and Miikka Salomaki. Filip Forsberg made it 2-0 with 5:25 left in the second on a goal assisted by Nick Bonino. Dallas scored later in the second to cut it to 2-1, with the hosts proceeded to tie it with 11:45 remaining. Nashville took the lead for good at the 8:19 mark as as Mikael Granlund found the back of the net with assists going to Dante Fabbro and Kyle Turris. Pekka Rinne turned away 40 of 42 shots in the winning effort.

Stars edged at home

Dallas lost by a count of 3-2 Monday night to fall behind 2-1 in the best-of-7 series. The Stars kept it scoreless through one period, but gave up two goals in the second to trail 2-0. Dallas got one back with 2:49 remaining in the period on a Mats Zuccarello goal on an assist from John Klingberg. In the third period, Tyler Seguin evened it up with 11:45 remaining on assists by Jamie Benn and Alexander Radulov. Nashville found what turned out to be the game-winner a few minutes later. Ben Bishop surrendered three goals on 28 shots in the defeat.

NHL Betting Trends

The Predators are 4-0 in their last four road games. Nashville is 5-1 in its last six games overall.

The home team is 2-6 in the last eight meetings. The favorite is 22-10 in the last 32 meetings.

With defense and goaltending the calling card in this series, any one mistake could be the difference. I think the Predators are a slightly more disciplined team or at least have more veterans who have been through the playoff grind. The easy play would be on Dallas getting one back at home, but I’m not sure it’s the smartest play. Nashville is on a mission this season after coming short in previous years with talented rosters. I say it notches another big road win tonight.
