Saints vs. Redskins Spread Prediction

New Orleans Saints vs. Washington Redskins, 10/8/18 MNF Predictions

The Washington Redskins are fresh off their bye but they’ll face a stiff challenge tonight winning in New Orleans against the Saints. Will Washington at least cover the spread in this MNF matchup at 8:20 p.m. ET?

Game Snapshot

477 Washington Redskins at 478 New Orleans Saints

Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Saints are 6-point favorites to beat the Redskins. The total, meanwhile, sits at 51.5 points. As of this writing, 57% of the public betting tickets are on the Saints to cover the point spread.

Washington Redskins

Josh Doctson (heel) is questionable for Week 5 against the Saints.  Doctson was in a walking boot Friday. He’s on the wrong side of questionable, with most beat reporters not expecting him to play. Maurice Harris will start if Doctson sits.

New Orleans Saints

Alvin Kamara (knee) was removed from the Week 5 injury report. Kamara was limited for the second straight week, but the Saints are just managing his practice reps. With Mark Ingram back, Kamara’s touches are going to take a hit, but he’s still a locked-in RB1.

NFL Betting Trends

Washington

The Redskins are just 7-19 against the spread in their last 26 games played on Monday night.

New Orleans

The Saints failed to cover the spread in four of their last five home games and are 1-5 ATS in their last six games played on Monday night.

Prediction

Outside of last week when they held a punchless Giants offense in check, the Saints have struggled defensively. They’re currently allowing 30.2 points per game, which ranks 30th overall. Even though Drew Brees, Michael Thomas and Kamara can light up a scoreboard (especially at home), I don’t want to lay nearly a touchdown with a team that is struggling defensively. Plus, Washington’s defense has played well thus far and the Redskins are coming off a bye, which means they got two full weeks to prepare for tonight’s matchup.

NFL Week 5 Prediction: Washington Redskins +6
