According to the latest oddsmakers, the Hornets are the slight favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -2 points against the Knicks. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 210 points. The public betting currently has 62 percent going on the Hornets as the home favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NBA Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Knicks on a cover streak

New York is coming off a surprising 110-97 win over the Nets at home on Sunday. The Knicks have covered the spread in five straight games entering tonight. New York is 13-34 on the season, 6-17 on the road, 25-22 against the spread and 27-20 with the under.

The Knicks are struggling on offense this year, averaging just 104.3 points per game while shooting 43.7 percent as a team. They also are the league’s-worst free-throw shooting team at 69.2 percent. Defensively, New York is giving up 111.8 points per game while opponents shoot 38.7 percent from the arc against them. New York is without rookie RJ Barrett right now due to an ankle injury. He is averaging 14.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Marcus Morris Sr. is leading the team with 19.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while Julius Randle is adding 18.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

Hornets continue slide

Charlotte is currently riding an 8-game losing streak following a 116-103 loss to the Bucks in Paris last Friday. They are 4-4 against the spread during this losing streak. Charlotte is now 15-31 on the season, 7-15 at home, 23-23 against the spread and 23-23 with the over/under total.

The Hornets are the league’s-worst offense right now, averaging just 103.3 points per game while shooting 43.4 percent from the field. Defensively, Charlotte is giving up 110.6 points per game while opponents shoot 48 percent against them. Devonte’ Graham is leading the team with 18.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game. Terry Rozier is adding 17.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

New York

The Knicks have covered the spread in their last five games when playing on 1 day of rest, but 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a road underdog.

Charlotte

The Hornets are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven home games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games as a home favorite.

Prediction:

Charlotte on the lone meeting this year in New York, 103-102 back in November. However, I will ride with the Knicks tonight. New York is riding a nice cover streak and have been competitive with some good teams like the Lakers, 76ers and Raptors. They also looked solid in the win over the Nets on Sunday. The Hornets haven’t really been very competitive and they certainly haven’t been a team you can count on as a favorite. They suffered a 23-point loss to the Magic in their last home game. Charlotte doesn’t have much of an identity or much for leadership. I think that is where the Knicks can give Charlotte some problems.

NBA Prediction: New York Knicks +2
