Public Betting Trends

According to our MLB Public Betting Chart page, 67% of the betting tickets are on the Braves to beat the Mets on the moneyline.

New York Mets Fantasy Spin

Brandon Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored Friday against the Braves. The scuffling Nimmo was bumped from the leadoff spot to eighth in the lineup on Friday and he responded by providing everything but a triple. It will be interesting to see if the Mets stick with this arrangement for longer than one day. Nimmo is still getting on base (he has a .340 OBP after Friday) but strikeouts have been a major issue.

Atlanta Braves Fantasy Spin

Ronald Acuna went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk Friday against the Mets. Stay hot. With four straight multi-hit games, Acuna’s batting average climbed from .129 to .289 in the process. His home run streak ended at three games on Friday, but there’s still plenty to feel good about here.

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Mets have won all four of Jason Vargas’ last four starts and are 4-1 in his last five outings on the road.

The Braves have won eight of Sean Newcomb’s last 10 starts versus the National League East.

The Mets are hot but I don’t trust Vargas despite New York winning in four of his last five starts. He was able to hold the weak-hitting Marlins to two runs across five innings in his first start but he also allowed eight hits and struck out just two. He came out of the bullpen for his last appearance and the Twins shelled him for four runs in one inning. The Braves are slightly expensive but they’re still under -150, which is roughly my threshold for MLB favorites.

The Pick: Atlanta Braves -141
