Conforto drives in lone run

New York fell by a score of 4-1 Friday night at Kansas City to drop to 62-60 overall and 28-39 on the road. J.D. Davis helped lead the Mets offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Michael Conforto was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Amed Rosario went 2-for-5. Noah Syndergaard took the loss as he surrendered two earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks over six innings of work. Jacob deGrom draws the start tonight for New York as he enters with a 7-7 record, 2.68 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 189 strikeouts over 148 innings pitched.

Montgomery throws six strong innings

Kansas City secured a 4-1 home win over New York Friday night to improve to 44-78 overall and 24-37 at home. Mike Montgomery earned the win as he allowed one unearned run on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks over six innings. Ian Kennedy recorded the save as he allowed two hits with one strikeout and one walk in a scoreless inning of work. Hunter Dozier helped lead the offense as went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Meibrys Viloria finished 1-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Jorge Soler was 1-for-1 with a double and three walks. Jakob Junis gets the start tonight for the Royals as he comes in with an 8-10 record, 4.80 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 136 strikeouts over 144 1/3 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Mets are 6-0 in their last six Saturday games. New York is 7-15 in the last 22 deGrom starts.

Kansas City

The Royals are 1-5 in their last six home games. Kansas City is 0-5 in the last five Junis interleague starts.

New York should never be 7-15 in a 22-game deGrom stretch, but for the second straight season it has not always provided him with much support. But with the Mets playing very good baseball over the last month and a flyball pitcher on the other side in Junis, I think deGrom gets some runs backing him while also throwing another gem. Go with New York here.
