New York Mets Fantasy Spin

Robinson Cano went 3-for-5 with an RBI single and a run scored Friday against the Cardinals. That’s more like it. Cano had no problem figuring out Adam Wainwright, collecting two doubles along with his run-scoring single. It’s been a struggle with his new team — hitting .218/.274/.372 over 18 games — but he’s shown some signs of busting out of it over the past few days.

St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin

Jose Martinez went 3-for-5 with a solo homer in Friday’s loss to the Mets. Martinez had two singles and a homer. His fourth-inning blast against Jason Vargas was his first home run of the year. The 30-year-old is a poor defender, but he’s getting a chance in the outfield with Harrison Bader and Tyler O’Neill both sidelined. Consider him a short-term pickup in fantasy leagues.

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Mets are winless in Chris Flexen’s last four starts.

St. Louis

The Cardinals are 8-1 in Miles Mikolas’ last nine home starts.

The Cardinals’ bats somewhat disappointed last night, scoring just four runs off gas can Jason Vargas and a bad Mets’ bullpen. While St. Louis is unlikely to light up the scoreboard with heavy crosswinds expected today at Busch Stadium, I do like the Cards to rebound. Mikolas has not pitched well in the early going but given the pitching matchup, the Cardinals’ money line odds aren’t outrageous. Mikolas was too good a year ago for him to continue to struggle. It’s bounce-back day in St. Louis.

The Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -145
