ODU getting outmatched

Old Dominion is off to a 1-1 start to the season following a 31-17 loss at Virginia Tech. The Monarchs are 1-1 against the spread while hitting the under in both of their games this year.

The Monarchs haven’t had much success with the ball, as they are averaging just 20.5 points and 308 yards per game this season. Defensively, ODU is giving up 26 points and 335.5 yards per game. Stone Smartt has thrown for just 280 yards with no touchdowns and an interception this year. Lala Davis is the leading rusher with 143 yards and a score while Eric Kumah is the leading receiver with just 89 yards.

Virginia edges Florida State

The Virginia football team has gotten off to a 3-0 start to the season thanks to a 31-24 win over Florida State at home last weekend. The Cavs are 2-0-1 against the spread and 2-1 with the over.

UVA is looking strong on both sides of the ball, as the defense is giving up just 18.3 points and 261.7 yards per contest. The offense is putting up 37.7 points and 412 yards per contest. Bryce Perkins has thrown for 668 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 158 yards and a score. Wayne Taulapapa has added 119 rushing yards with four touchdowns. Joe Reed has 19 receptions for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Mack is leading the defense with 20 tackles and four sacks.

College Football Betting Trends

Old Dominion

The Monarchs are 6-1 with the over in their last seven against a winning team and 5-2 with the over in their last seven road games.

Virginia

The Cavs are 7-2 with the over in their last nine non-conference games and 5-2 with the over in their last seven games on grass.

Prediction:

Virginia isn’t a powerful offense, but the Cavs should be able to move the ball at a steady pace against Old Dominion. The Monarchs gave up 31 points to Virginia Tech last week, a pretty pedestrian offense in the grand scheme of the nation. Virginia can match that, if not do more. Old Dominion won’t need to do much can still find its way to a few scores throughout the game to help contribute to the total. I think Virginia will do the heavy lifting and lead them to the over.

College Football Week 4 Prediction: Old Dominion/Virginia Over 46
