Raiders vs. Panthers, 9/13/20 NFL Week 1 Betting Predictions

Matt Rhule will make his NFL coaching debut on Sunday when his Panthers host the Raiders at 1:00 p.m. ET. Listed as a small underdog, will Rhule lead Carolina to an upset victory or will Jon Gruden’s squad prevail as a road favorite?

Los Vegas Raiders DFS Spin

Raiders WR Bryan Edwards is listed on the Week 1 injury report with a knee injury. He practiced fully despite the injury. Edwards had a knee scope in November that eventually ended his senior year. It’s a reminder Edwards has a lengthy injury history, though there’s been no concern over his status. Edwards remains on track for Week 1.

Carolina Panthers DFS Spin

Panthers placed CB Eli Apple (ankle/foot) on injured reserve. Apple, expected to play every down on defense for the Panthers’ inexperienced secondary when healthy, battled through ankle, foot, and hamstring injuries throughout camp. His starting spot across from Donte Jackson will fall to either Corn Elder, rookie Troy Pride, or Eagles castoff Rasul Douglas. This news is positive for Teddy Bridgewater’s fantasy outlook since the team’s offense will undoubtedly be forced to keep its foot on the gas and win via shootouts.

Raiders vs. Panthers Betting Prediction

The Panthers don’t have the talent to shock the masses and reach the playoffs this season, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were more competitive than people think. Teddy Bridgewater is 31-9 against the spread in games where he has attempted at least one pass. That 78% ATS mark is insane. He’ll captain the offense coordinated by the man that helped Joe Burrow win a national championship last season and become the No. 1 overall pick in April’s draft, Joe Brady. With Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson and Curtis Samuel, the Panthers have more than enough weapons on offense to keep this one close against a Raiders team that spent a lot to revamp the defense, but the unit will likely lack cohesion early in the season.

NFL WEEK 1 BETTING PREDICTION: CAROLINA PANTHERS +3
