You can forget all about the New York Rangers’ rough opening to the 2020-21 NHL season – and you can do the same with the Flyers’ sizzling start, as well.

Two teams that were miles apart not long ago now have identical records through 32 games as the Rangers carry a three-game winning streak into a Saturday afternoon showdown with a Flyers team that has lost four straight. Both teams will be scrambling for a spot in the East Division’s Top 4, making this matchup pivotal.

These are our favorite NHL free picks and predictions for Rangers vs Flyers on March 27.

You could hardly blame the Flyers for cringing at the thought of facing the Rangers again, given what has happened the past two times these teams have hit the ice. The Rangers walloped the Flyers 9-0 in the most one-sided result of the NHL season back on March 17 and followed that up with an 8-3 drubbing of their division rivals Thursday.

The Rangers own a 3-1-1 record in the head-to-head series so far this season and have improved to the point where they come in as -130 road favorites. A big part of that is tied to their recent success: They’ve won five of their past seven while building an incredible plus-20 goal differential over that span. Philadelphia, meanwhile, has dropped nine of its last 13 overall.

You can’t ignore recent form here. The Rangers are playing like the Flyers were early in the season, while Philadelphia looks very much like the team New York was to open the campaign.

PREDICTION: NY Rangers -130 (-110)

Over/Under pick

As you might expect, there’s a lot of money coming in on the O6 here. The teams having combined for 20 goals over their past two meetings certainly has a lot to do with that, as does the fact that the Flyers are a mind-blowing 23-9 to the Over so far this season. The hosts have seen nine of their past 10 games surpass the total, with five of those games producing at least nine goals.

The Rangers come in at just 12-18-1 O/U for the season, but are trending in the other direction with Overs in four of their past six. Their offense has finally come to life (thanks for that, Philly) and they’re in good position to keep that run going against a Flyers team that ranks second-last in the NHL with a 3.72 goals-against average for the season. The Over looks really good here.

PREDICTION: Over 6 (-110)
