Lamet shines in win

Dinelson Lamet carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning Tuesday night in a 9-4 victory for San Diego at Seattle. Lamet finished the contest allowing two hits with 12 strikeouts and four walks over seven shutout innings. Eric Hosmer helped pace the offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Josh Naylor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Fernando Tatis Jr. ended the game 1-for-4 with a homer, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Joey Lucchesi gets the start today for the Padres as he enters with a 7-6 record, 4.23 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 111 strikeouts over 117 innings pitched.

Lopes hits first MLB homer

Seattle did not register a hit until the seventh inning at home Tuesday night in a 9-4 loss to San Diego. Tim Lopes helped lead the offensive effort as he was 1-for-1 with his first MLB home run and two RBIs off the bench. Domingo Santana went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Kyle Seager ended the game 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Wade LeBlanc took the loss as he gave up five earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk over five innings as the bulk reliever. Yusei Kikuchi will start this afternoon for the Mariners as he comes in with a 4-8 record, 5.49 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 84 strikeouts over 118 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

San Diego

The Padres are 4-0 in their last four games versus the AL West. San Diego is 4-1 in its last five interleague road games.

The Mariners are 0-5 in their last five games overall. Seattle is 2-10 in the last 12 Kikuchi starts.

I can’t trust Kikuchi here and the Mariners offense is really struggling. Lucchesi oftens seems a mistake or two away from putting it all together and perhaps this game against a subpar offense is where he can really take a step forward. The Padres offense looked good for a second game in a row and I’m expecting that to continue here. Go with the road favorites.
