For the third time in less than two weeks, the Spurs and Lakers will match up, this time at STAPLES Center at 10:00 p.m. ET on Thursday night. Will the Lakers cover as a 7.5-point favorite or will the Spurs cash as a road underdog?

Game Snapshot

541 San Antonio Spurs (+7.5) at 542 Los Angeles Lakers (-7.5); o/u 224.5

10:00 p.m. ET, Thursday, January 7, 2021

Venue: STAPLES Center, Los Angeles, CA

San Antonio Spurs

Dejounte Murray played 37 minutes in Tuesday’s win over the Clippers, tallying 21 points (9-of-18 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), five rebounds, five assists, two steals and two 3-pointers. Coming off of his worst game of the season, Murray bounced back in a big way as the Spurs held off the Clippers in Los Angeles. The fourth-year point guard shot 1-of-13 from the field in Sunday’s loss to the Jazz, but he did a much better job of not only creating better looks but knocking them down as well. Murray isn’t the most consistent shooter, but he does enough across the board to ensure top-100 value in both 8- and 9-cat formats.DFS Spin

LeBron James (ankle) is questionable for Thursday vs. the Spurs. James has yet to rest this season despite the Lakers saying he would be load managed. This is the front end of a back-to-back, so a DNP-CD could be on the cards for one of the two. If that happens, maybe the Lakers let preseason star Talen Horton-Tucker get some much needed minutes.

Spurs vs. Lakers Betting Prediction

The Spurs are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games against the Lakers and are 1-3-1 at the betting window in their last five road games versus L.A. Meanwhile, the Lakers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games coming off an ATS loss, are 5-1 against the number in their last six home games versus an opponent with a winning road record and have covered in four of their last five home games when facing an opponent with a road winning percentage of greater than .600.
