Rays sweep past Yankees

Tampa Bay shut down visiting New York Wednesday night by a score of 4-0 to improve to 95-64 overall and 48-33 at home. Charlie Morton picked up the win as he gave up one hit with nine strikeouts and three walks over six innings. Avisail Garcia helped lead the Rays offense as he went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Joey Wendle ended the game 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Matt Duffy was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Tyler Glasnow starts tonight for Tampa Bay as he enters with a 6-1 record, 1.92 ERA and 0.92 WHIP plus 72 strikeouts over 56 1/3 innings pitched.

Tellez powers Jays

Rowdy Tellez hit two solo home runs Wednesday to lead Toronto to a 3-2 victory at home versus Baltimore. Tellez finished the contest 2-for-4 with the two solo homers. Billy McKinney went 1-for-2 with a solo home run plus two walks. Cavan Biggio was 0-for-2 plus two walks. Jacob Waguespack earned the win as he threw six shutout innings with four hits allowed, five strikeouts and two walks. Ken Giles notched the save as he struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning. T.J. Zeuch starts tonight for the Blue Jays as he comes in with a 1-1 record, 4.58 ERA and 1.47 WHIP plus 16 strikeouts over 17 2/3 innings of work.

MLB Betting Trends

Tampa Bay

The Rays are 5-0 in their last five Friday games. Tampa Bay is 5-0 in the last five Glasnow road starts.

Toronto

The Blue Jays are 5-0 in their last five series openers. Toronto is 7-3 in its last 10 games overall.

Prediction:

Glasnow has been lights out with a high strikeout rate since returning from an arm injury, just how he was before the ailment. He’s built stamina with each start and should be able to pitch into the fifth or sixth inning today. Tampa Bay’s bullpen should do the rest. The Rays have taken it to another gear lately and I don’t expect them to take this game lightly.
