Temple set for AAC opener

The Temple Owls are off to a 3-1 start to the season thanks to an impressive 24-2 win over Georgia Tech this past weekend. Temple is 3-1 against the spread while going 2-2 with the over/under total.

Temple has been solid on defense this season, allowing 17.3 points and 283.8 yards per game. The Owls are putting up 30.5 points and 433.3 yards per game on offense, including nearly 300 passing yards. Anthony Russo has thrown for 1,071 yards and 10 touchdowns to lead the offense while Jadan Blue has 27 catches for 402 yards and two scores. Re’Mahn Davis is the team’s leading rusher with 346 yards and three scores. The Temple defense is led by Ifeanyi Maijeh, who has 23 tackles with 2.5 sacks.

ECU trying to heat up

East Carolina has won its last two games, including a 24-21 win at Old Dominion last weekend. The Pirates are 3-2 on the season, 0-1 in the AAC, 2-3 against the spread and 5-0 with the under.

The Pirates have been pretty even on offense and defense. The offense puts up just 21.4 points and 370.8 yards per game, while the defense is giving up 22.6 points and 342.4 yards per outing. ECU has a strong ground attack, with four rushers over 100 yards. Demetrius Mauney is leading the way with 199 yards while quarterback Holton Ahlers has rushed for 186 yards and three scores while passing for 913 yards and four touchdowns. Blake Proehl has caught 20 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns while Kendall Futrell is leading the defense with 30 tackles and four sacks.

College Football Betting Trends

Temple

The Owls have hit the over in four of their last five road games, but 16-7 with the under in their last 23 games on grass.

East Carolina

ECU has hit the under in seven of its last nine games in October and in six of its last eight against a winning team.

Prediction:

The under has been the play in this series, as they have hit it in four of their last five meetings. ECU has not scored more than 14 points in their last five meetings with Temple, and that could be the case again this year. The Owls have a very solid defense that just held Georgia Tech in check and also held down an explosive Maryland offense a few weeks ago. ECU isn’t bad on defense either, so the Owls could have some trouble getting points and keep this total very low.

College Football Week 6 Prediction: Temple/East Carolina Under 47.5
