Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers, the Rangers are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -135 to win. The White Sox are listed with a money line of +115 to prevail, while the over/under total has been set at 9 runs. The public betting currently has 74 percent of the wagers going on the Rangers on the road. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Rangers end losing streak

The Rangers put an end to their three-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 5-1 win at Seattle. Texas is 17-27 overall and 10-11 on the road. The Rangers are putting up 4.00 runs per game this season and allowing 5.32 per contest.

Cole Hamels gets the start for the Rangers tonight. He has just a 2-4 record through nine starts, but he has a 3.48 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. Hamels is coming off six scoreless innings against the Astros. He has 57 strikeouts and 21 walks through 51.2 innings of work this season.

White Sox abysmal at home

The White Sox are coming off back-to-back losses on the road, but now they return home where they are just 3-15 this season. Overall, Chicago is 10-29. The White Sox are putting up 3.82 runs per game this season while allowing 5.74 per contest on defense.

James Shields gets the start for the White Sox tonight. He is just 1-4 through eight starts and nine appearances in 2018. Shields has pitched 48 innings and has a 5.44 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP. He has tallied 28 strikeouts with 22 walks.

MLB Betting Trends

Texas

The Rangers have won Hamels’ last five starts against AL Central opponents and 31 of his last 40 starts against a losing team.

Chicago

The White Sox are just 1-8 in their last 9 against AL West opponents and they have lost their last four home games against a left-handed starter.

Prediction:

Texas isn’t a team to be terribly excited about, but Hamels has been very strong on the mound over recent weeks. He should be able to dominate this Chicago lineup, which is becoming one of the worst in baseball. Shields doesn’t have the ability to match what I expect Hamels to do, so I say ride the Rangers against this horrible home team.

The Pick: Texas Rangers -135
