Blue Jays rally past BoSox

Toronto was down 6-0 through three innings, but stormed back with a four-run seventh inning and three-run eighth Saturday evening to top host Boston by a count of 8-7. Rowdy Tellez helped pace the Blue Jays offense as he finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored. Freddy Galvis ended the contest 1-for-4 wiht a home run and two RBIs. Cavan Biggo with 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Nick Kingham picked up the win in relief as he walked one and struck out three over two scoreless frames. Ken Giles allowed one earned run on one hit with three strikeouts and one walk to get the save. Marcus Stroman draws the start today for Toronto as he comes in with a 4-9 record, 3.23 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 71 strikeouts over 94 2/3 innings.

Red Sox falter late

Boston blew a six-run advantage Saturday in an 8-7 home defeat against Toronto to drop to 42-36 overall and 18-18 at home. Christian Vazquez helped lead the Red Sox offense as he went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs. Andrew Benintendi finished 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs. Jackie Bradley Jr. ended the game 2-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Matt Barnes suffered the loss in relief as he surrendered three earned runs on two hits with one strikeout and two walks over two-thirds of an inning. Rick Porcello will start today for Boston as he comes in with a 5-6 record, 4.31 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 74 strikeouts over 87 23 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Toronto

The Blue Jays are 17-37 in their last 54 games overall. Toronto is 5-13 in the last 18 Stroman starts.

Boston

The Red Sox are 8-2 in their last 10 games overall. Boston is 8-3 in the last 11 Porcello home starts.

Prediction:

Boston faltered badly yesterday and now face a groundball machine in Stroman. With Porcello facing a lineup that should also have a tougher time to score than Saturday, I’m going to focus more on the total in this game. I like the under with both starting pitchers frustrating opposing batters enough to keep the game relatively low-scoring.

MLB DAILY PREDICTION: TORONTO BLUE JAYS/BOSTON RED SOX UNDER 9.5
