Using the NFL Schedule to Handicap your Future Bets

When it comes to betting on NFL football, there’s more than one way to skin the cat as the proverbial saying goes!

In addition to delving deep inside all kinds of statistical data like ATS trends, Over/Under trends and basic straight-up team success, NFL betting enthusiasts should also know that you can use the NFL schedule to assist you in your handicapping efforts and future bets.

‘How can this be accomplished’ you ask?

Well, let’s find out right now.

SU Success and Weekly Trends

If you didn’t know NFL betting buffs, you can easily find the SU success and ATS trends of any team in any particular week. For instance, let’s say you’re planning on betting on the Houston Texans in their regular season opener. You can find out how the Texans have fared in their last 10 season openers (or more if that floats your boat) and you can find out how they’ve done in their last few openers, both at home or on the road heading into in 2018.

Head-to-Head

Let’s say you’re thinking about backing the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in 2018 because you believe they’ve got a solid young cast that can win plenty of games and challenge for a few Super Bowl berths over the next half-decade or so.

You could look at Philly’s 2018 home matchups against the Atlanta Falcons, and Minnesota Vikings or their road date against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.

Have the Birds traditionally beaten the Falcons and Vikings at home over the years while struggling on the road at New Orleans. Maybe they’ve dominated – or been dominated – by all three of their NFC conference rivals. Whatever the case, you can simply look ahead – by looking back at Philadelphia‘s head-to-head success against all three teams.

Division Rival?

Okay, let’s say you want to bet on the Denver Broncos in their Week 3 matchup at home against Kansas City, their Week 4 home date against the Los Angeles Chargers and their Week 16 road date at Oakland.

You can easily look up Denver’s head-to-head record against all three opponents. You can go back to find out how the Broncos have fared at home against both, the Chiefs and chargers or how they’ve done on the road at Oakland. You can also look at how the Broncos have fared in Weeks 3, 4 and 17 and vice versa for all three of their AFC West division rivals.

Inter-Conference Clash?

Let’s say you’re thinking about betting on the Seattle Seahawks this coming season when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs at home in 2018 or maybe the Oakland Raiders on the road. You can simply look at Seattle’s recent Inter-conference records, whether it’s their SU record or ATS trends before going on to see how the Seahawks have fared against both AFC opponents in recent years. You can also check out the Seahawks home and road Inter-conference statistics in an effort to help you maximize your chances of cashing on on either Seattle – or their opponents – when they square off in their respective 2018 Inter-conference matchups against both, Kansas City or Oakland.

Streaking or Struggling?

Last but not least, let’s say you’re planning on betting on the Dallas Cowboys in 2018, (not that I advise it) and they’re theoretically taking on the Tennessee Titans at home in Week 12. Well, there are a few simple ways to use the NFL schedule to your betting advantage. Are the Titans streaking heading into the contest or, let’s say you want to wager on the game two weeks prior. Has Tennessee gone 5-1 in their previous six games? Has Dallas gone 4-2 over the same span? Are both teams struggling or maybe just one of them is? Has one of either team had a series of eye-opening success in Week 12 games or struggled mightily that week? There are a bunch of ways to use streaking or struggling SU or ATS trends via the NFL schedule heading into any particular week of action.

Now that you’ve got some really helpful NFL betting tips on how to use the NFL schedule to handicap your future bets you can make some NFL offseason wagers with confidence!
