According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Phillies are -132 moneyline favorites. As of this writing, 69% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Phillies to beat the Nationals on the moneyline.

Washington Nationals Fantasy Spin

Anthony Rendon slugged a three-run homer to propel the Nationals to a 12-9 win over the Mets on Sunday. Rendon swatted a three-run blast — his fourth round-tripper of the season — off Mets’ reliever Luis Avilan to put Washington ahead 12-1 in the seventh inning. He also walked twice and scored three runs in the contest. The 28-year-old slugger has gotten off to a blistering start, hitting .433/.528/.967 with 12 runs scored, four homers and nine RBI in 36 plate appearances.

Philadelphia Phillies Fantasy Spin

Rhys Hoskins went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead two-run home run in Sunday’s win over Twins. The Twinkies held a 1-0 lead through the first five innings of action before Hoskins came on to flip the scoreboard in the sixth inning, whacking a two-run home run off Jose Berrios. The dinger was his third of the campaign and bumped his RBI total to an impressive 13 through eight games played. Hoskins has now driven in eight runs in just his last four contests while working to a sparkling .346/.514/.769 triple-slash in 26 at-bats on the young campaign.

MLB Betting Trends

Washington

The Nationals have won five of their last six road games versus the Phillies and are 4-1 in their last five games versus Philadelphia overall.

Philadelphia

The Phillies have lost four of Vincent Velasquez’s last five starts but have won five straight when he pitches at home.

Prediction:

Vincent Velasquez will make his first start of the 2019 season because the Phillies’ schedule didn’t require a fifth starter until now. He’s coming off a 2018 campaign in which he struck out 161 batters in 146 2/3 innings and he’ll face a Washington lineup on Monday night that is among the league leaders in strikeouts. Meanwhile, Anibal Sanchez will face the Phillies again after he allowed four runs and four hits in four innings against Philadelphia last Wednesday. Given the pitching matchup and the way the Phillies are swinging the bats right now, I like Philadelphia to pick up its seventh victory of the season.

The Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -132
