Washington Nationals Fantasy Spin

Brian Dozier hit his first homer of the year Monday off the Phillies’ Pat Neshek. It could have been a big blow, but unfortunately, it was a solo shot with the Nationals down two in the ninth. Manager Dave Martinez chose Dozier over Victor Robles to move up to the second spot in the Nationals lineup after Trea Turner got hot last week. It’s the primary reason that Dozier is worth using in mixed leagues at the moment.

Philadelphia Phillies Fantasy Spin

Rhys Hoskins popped a pair of solo homers Monday to lead the Phillies to a 4-3 win over the Nationals. Hoskins went deep against Anibal Sanchez in the sixth and Justin Miller in the eighth, bringing his season total to five home runs. Last year, he didn’t hit his fifth homer until May 5.

MLB Betting Trends

Washington

The Nationals are 6-1 in their last seven games following a loss in their previous contest.

Philadelphia

The Phillies have won eight of their last nine home games and are now 9-2 in their last 11 games overall.

Prediction:

Hoskins and Co. produced four runs on Monday night versus Washington, but they also benefited from facing Nationals starter Anibal Sanchez. Things will be more challenging tonight when they take on Strasburg, who owns a 2.84 ERA and a 32.7% strikeout rate in his first two starts of the season. The Nats are also 7-1 in Strasburg’s last eight road starts versus the Phillies and have taken 17 of his last 21 outings overall against Philly. The Phillies, meanwhile, are 5-11 in Nola’s last 16 starts versus the Nationals and are 2-6 in his last eight home outings against Washington. Granted, Harper is now on Nola’s side but the Nationals’ money line value is too good to pass up.

The Pick: Washington Nationals +130
