Location: Oakland Coliseum – Oakland, California

Weather: Partly Cloudy, 64 degrees, 7mph winds

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Angels are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -130 to win today. The Athletics are listed with a money line of +110 at home. The over/under total is currently listed at 9 runs.

The Angels have Matt Shoemaker on the mound this afternoon while the Athletics will put Daniel Mengden on the mound. Shoemaker appeared in just 14 games last season, going 6-3 with a 4.52 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. He had 69 strikeouts with 28 walks. Mengden pitched in seven games last season for Oakland, posting a 3-2 record with a 3.14 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP. He had 29 strikeouts with nine walks.

Bet on MLB for Saturday, March 31, 2018

The public is backing the Athletics today. Oakland is currently getting 51 percent of the wagers for this game at home against the Angels.

Both teams have no new players listed on the injury report for today’s game.

After Oakland picked up a 6-5 win on Thursday, the Angels bounced back on Friday with a 2-1 win. Tyler Skaggs pitched 6.1 scoreless innings to lead Los Angeles in the win. Skaggs had five strikeouts with no walks. Blake Parker allowed one run in the ninth, but still earned the save. At the plate, Mike Trout hit his first home run of the season while Justin Upton had a pair of hits.

Sean Manaea had a strong outing for Oakland on the mound. He went 7.2 innings and allowed just one run on four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. Jonathan Lucroy drove in the lone run for Oakland.

These two have been evenly matched thus far, but the pitching edge has gone to Oakland in my mind. The Athletics had the better start on Friday, they just couldn’t produce the runs. Today, I think Mengden has the capability of going deep into the game as well. Shoemaker has had injury issues keep him from being consistent. Being at home, I will take Oakland behind the arm of Mengden
