MLB Predictions: Will the Indians sweep the Tigers? 9/13/17

Can the Cleveland Indians earn their 21st straight win and complete a sweep of the Detroit Tigers when the two meet today at 12:10PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Indians are heavily favored at home, as they are getting odds of -300 against the Tigers. Detroit is listed with a money line of +265 to prevail, while the over/under total for the contest has been set at 9.5 runs.

The pitching matchup for this contest has Buck Farmer (4-2, 6.32 ERA) on the mound for the Tigers to face Mike Clevinger (9-5, 3.30) of the Indians. Clevinger has had three straight 6-inning scoreless outings for Cleveland. He has 121 strikeouts this season with 54 walks and a 1.26 WHIP. Farmer has allowed multiple runs in each of his last three starts since returning from the minors. He has given up 10 runs over 13.2 innings. The Indians picked up an 11-0 win over the Tigers on Monday night and followed that up with a 2-0 win on Tuesday. The Indians have won 20 straight games, improving to 89-56 on the season and 41-29 at home. Detroit is 60-84 overall and 28-46 on the road.

Tuesday’s game saw Corey Kluber pitch a complete game shutout, allowing five hits and eight strikeouts to improve to 16-4 on the season with a 2.44 ERA. Matthew Boyd pitched well for Detroit, but took the loss by allowing one run over five innings. Francisco Lindor had a solo home run to lead the Indians in the win while Carlos Santana scored on a wild pitch. Nicholas Castellanos had two hits to lead the Tigers at the plate.

Bet on Tigers vs. Indians

The Tigers haven’t had much success against Cleveland lately. They have lost six straight meetings and have been shutout in three of them. Clevinger takes the mound this afternoon riding a scoreless streak of his own, so he should be able to add to that against this poor Detroit lineup. The Tigers don’t have the hitters to compete and their pitching isn’t anywhere near Cleveland. Look for the Indians to win by multiple runs once again.
