According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Philadelphia is favored in this game, as the Phillies are getting odds of -120 to win against Atlanta. The Braves are getting a money line of +110 to prevail. The over/under total is currently listed at 8 runs.

The Braves have Julio Teheran taking the mound to face Aaron Nola of the Phillies. Nola is in his fourth season with the Phillies. He went 12-11 last season with a 3.54 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. He tallied 184 strikeouts with 49 walks. Teheran is coming off an 11-13 record in 2017 with a 4.49 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP. He had 151 strikeouts over 32 starts with 72 walks.

Bet on MLB for Thursday, March 29, 2018

The public is backing the Phillies today. Philadelphia is currently getting 59 percent of the wagers for this game as the road favorite against the Braves.

Atlanta third baseman Johan Camargo is listed on the injury report for today’s game. He is out until mid-May with an ankle injury. He batted .299 over 82 games last season and had 21 doubles. Philadelphia has nobody new listed on the injury report.

Atlanta won four of its last five meetings with the Phillies in 2017, including two of their last three encounters at home.

Philadelphia is coming off a 66-96 record in 2017. The Phillies were just 27-54 on the road and scored 690 runs while allowing 782. The Braves were 72-90 last season, which included a 37-44 record at home. Atlanta scored 732 runs at the plate while allowing 821 defensively.

I understand that both teams struggled last year, but it is surprising to see that the Phillies are favored on the road. Philadelphia didn’t do much winning on the road and I don’t see them having improved that greatly in the offseason. Atlanta should have a boost for the home opener and I like them to ride that momentum to a victory.
