If you sit down a bunch of college football fans (hardcore, casual, or otherwise) and ask them to write down their top three picks to win the 2016-17 Heisman Trophy you will, generally, expect three names to come up over-and-over again.

Clemson’s Deshaun Watson (9/2), LSU’s Leonard Fournette (5/1), and Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey (5/1) are all head-and-shoulders above the rest when you look at past performance and perceived potential for the upcoming season. Watson and McCaffrey were both finalists in the 2015-16 Heisman Trophy voting and Fournette is widely regarded as the most talented player in all of college football.

Westgate LV Superbook has released their updated futures odds for the big winner at the December 10th, 2016 award presentation. While anything can happen throughout the season in regards to injuries, and there are always a few breakout freshmen who surprise everyone, reaching past tier one or tier two (with the overabundance of talent in those tiers) seems like a pointless enterprise.

Tier two features standouts like Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield (10/1), Florida State’s Dalvin Cook (10/1), Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett (15/1), and Georgia’s Nick Chubb (15/1).
